No other apps that use dconf appear to have this problem. I've tried sudo dnf reinstall gnucash just now, and still, config is not read or stored. Previous attempts were always done using sudo dnf remove gnucash, then sudo dnf install gnucash. but all remains the same, where gnucash does not store preferences, or read them (date is set to ISO, but US date is what's present every time), and gnucash does not "remember" the accounting files opened from one session to the other. And while I believe gnucash does not keep any preference data in the accounting data files, I've done the above and have tried gnucash both with and without having opened the accounting data into it so see if anything improves. I've tried that several times, and have gone so far as to go into the directories that I understand gnucash uses and remove related files, just in case there might be something lingering between re-installations that could be causing the problem. (In reply to Gwyn Ciesla from comment #4) This may or may not be related to the inability to read/store configurations, but thought I'd mention it in case it is related. However, as noted above, viewing income accounts from within a GnuCash window shows revenues as negative values (same with income statement report). GnuCash appears to open an existing account file fine, and balance sheet reports appear normal (except for font size and dates, which default to the calendar date the GnuCash is run, since neither fonts or business dates can be changed in preferences). I tried Comment 14, but with or without $HOME/.config/gnucash/ created, starting GnuCash from command line returns only "Found Finance::Quote version 1.51." Output from Comments 5, 9 and 12 are as per attachments provided by Thomas B, except "gsettings get prefs-version" returns "0". Notwithstanding, I followed through the steps in in the hope to find a solution. There were no previous versions of GnuCash on this machine. This is a new installation of GnuCash on a new installation of Fedora 35 Workstation. Changes made via GnuCash menu Edit->Preferences should be written to dconf, or changes made via dconf editor should be read and applied (they are not). There should be a splash screen on startup. An existing account file file appears to open fine, but shows shows cumulative revenue amounts as negative values (this may or may not be related to the inability to read/store config, and may need to be reported as a separate bug). Edit->Preferences shows ISO date selected, but GnuCash uses US date format. GnuCash appears to start and run with default configuration. GnuCash starts without splash screen and without tips window (which is set to "true" in dconf). default settings in dconf are not applied, changes made using dconf editor are not read by GnuCash changes made from Edit->Preferences are not storedĢ.
